Google Gets Patent For Solar Powered Contact Lens

Google has been playing around with contact lenses for the past 3-5 years. They are working on the smart contact lens for diabetics and filed a patent for Iris reading contact lens  In a new patent filed October 13, it appears that this contact lens will be operated by solar cells. Again this device is for health monitoring.


According to the tech wizards, this Smart Contact lens would be able to sniff out pollutants, (hay fever, asthma) or other toxic materials, so the wearer can leave the area. The patent also suggest it could monitor other health issues such as body temperature, blood alcohol levels and a few more.

The Diabetic Smart Contact lens operates on the same principle, but alerting the wearer with there is spikes in their glucose levels.
