Super Optical Recycling Waste With Shark Glass

Cincinnati, OH – 2016 – In an effort to be more eco-friendly, Super Optical International has teamed up with Shark Glass Recycling North America to use recycled windshield glass in their Cincinnati based lens manufacturing facility. Shark Glass Recycling is a market leader in the recycling of post-consumer windshields, providing solutions for both the glass and PVB (PolyVinyl Butyral) interlay. Super Optical found a unique way to use their recycled glass powder material in their lens blocks.

FastGrind lenses come to the user pre-blocked for an easy grinding experience. Super Optical discovered they could mix the Shark glass powder recyclable filler into their block technology, eliminating waste and use of new materials. The block is now made of 50% Shark Glass and 50% proprietary material.
