Taking a look at Georgia Optometry website from the eyes of a consumer;

What I like:

  • It comes up first in Google and is on the first page.
  • Good use of key words
  • Loads very fast
  • Simple easy to read website in big letters, phone numbers up front, you can request an appointment on line.

What I don’t like as a consumer

  • What type of contact lenses do they carry?
  • What eyewear brands do they carry?
  • Links page is empty- Links are important to Google and to search engines.
  • No ‘share’ button- you don’t have to be a member of any social media to put on a share button on your website.

Home Page: Lots of key words, Facebook and Twitter

As a consumer, if I was looking for Randy Jackson Eyewear in Atlanta, they would not come up. In fact after plugging in 10 designer eyewear brands, they did not show up in Google after 10 pages. Plugging in contact lens brands, they did not show up again in google.

As one of the 71% of consumers that go online to check out products and services first before shopping, I usually visit up to 10 websites first when looking for products. One optometric practice that shows up consistently in google search is Atlanta Vision Optical (3 key words in the title)

The home page has all sorts of information, I now about designer eyeglasses, comprehensive eye exams, I can follow them on Twitter and Facebook. The only fault I can find is ophthalmologist is spelled wrong on the left sidebar and some of the images need to be re-loaded and they should include a ‘Share’ button on the side to easy emailing to friends.

As you are reviewing your website for 2011, I hope you will consider the above suggestions. As Dan Feldman from DB Designs said, your website is your #1 marketing tool, especially for those 71% of consumers that go online to shop first.
