ClearVision Optical and Wiley X – Support the Cure

We never cease to be amazed by the philanthropic values of the optical industry. We like to support these companies and one way we can do that is tell our readers about events that they can participate in. As you may or may not know, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and we have several sponsors involved in activities associated with this cause. We feature two of them here –  ClearVision Optical and Wiley X – Support the Cure for Breast Cancer.

In 2010, ClearVision Optical increased its involvement with Susan G. Komen for the Cure by committing to support events in the New York City metropolitan area. ClearVision has raised over $150,000 for Komen for the Cure through the sales of specially designed sunglasses in cooperation with BCBGMAXAZRIA.

ClearVision is a gold sponsor of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure—being held this Sunday, September 12th in Central Park, NY. We wish we could be there to cheer them and be part of the Race Day festivities – including involvement in the Pledge Prize program and booth presence with an innovative Run & Refresh Facebook promotion. Utilizing a spin wheel, runners visiting the ClearVision booth will have a chance to “win” various items with a focus on pampering delights: mini facials, brow-shaping, makeovers and other spa treats. It will also allow the opportunity for passersby to try on BCBGMAXAZRIA Dream, ClearVision’s cause-related limited edition sunglass to raise funds for Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.

Beginning in January, 2010 Wiley X has been donating $2.50 from the sale of each non-polarized pair and $3.50 from each polarized pair of one of its top- selling womenʼs sunglasses.

The company has committed to raising a minimum of $10,000 by the yearʼs end for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation(BCRF) from its signature pink Cotton Candy colored frame Lacey glasses, and the momentum of the program has been spreading like wildfire. Every pair of Wiley X Lacey eyewear has a special BCRF Pink Ribbon cling sticker on the lens, and the response of sales through Wiley Xʼs dealer network has been overwhelming.

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation is committed to preventing breast cancer and finding a cure in our lifetime by funding clinical and translational research worldwide. A minimum of 85 cents of every dollar raised through the foundationʼs efforts goes directly to breast cancer research and awareness programs.
