Serengeti Shades: Sports Performance Eyewear

For those of us that go way back, you might remember the hoopla on Serengeti Sunglasses. They were the ‘only’ sunglasses to drive in and silmodorthey were among the first to talk about a Blue-Blocking Lenses. Eye Didn’t Know This! Would you believe that Serengeti was conceived back in 1984 by Corning Glass Works (yes, Corning as in Gorilla Glass and SunSensors). Initially it was not too successful until this guy, Zaki Mustafa fought to keep the brand going and is attributed to saving the brand, driving sales to $62 Million in 1993. (Wikipedia). Which is a huge number, especially back in 1993, tells you how strong the brand was and still is.

The brand was bought by Bushnell, who continues to innovate their photochromic lens technology, which automatically adjusts to changing light conditions throughout the day.
